Certainty in a Uncertain Environment: Taking Stock of the Life Sciences Industry under the Trump Administration
This brief policy discussion will address the current state of health care policy as it relates to investing decisions in the life sciences industry. Attendees will gain an understanding of the current policy landscape, learn how the life sciences market may be impacted by the Trump Administration’s regulatory policy and personnel appointments, and discuss the behavior trends of the life sciences business community towards development and growth.
James Ravitz, Esq. (Moderator) is the practice group leader of Arent Fox’s Food, Drug, Medical Device & Agriculture group. His practice focuses on assisting clients in the life sciences and health care industries with navigating complex regulatory requirements throughout all phases of development. He also counsels companies on all aspects of marketing devices and other medical products, including labeling, advertising, manufacturing, and distribution.
Dr. Lanhee Chen is counsel at Arent Fox LLP and a nationally recognized health policy authority, with a focus on issues relating to the Affordable Care Act as well as Medicare, Medicaid, and ERISA. He is currently the David and Diane Steffy Research Fellow at the Hoover Institution; Director of Domestic Policy Studies and Lecturer in the Public Policy Program at Stanford University; and Lecturer in Law at Stanford Law School. He is also Chair of the Board of Directors of El Camino Hospital in the Silicon Valley.
Dan O’Neill is a Senior Vice President at Kaiser Associates and leads Kaiser’s Healthcare practice. He has significant experience developing commercial growth strategies for Fortune 500 pharmaceutical and medical technology clients. Dan focuses on strategic marketing, product launch planning, commercial due diligence, market opportunity assessments, and competitive strategy.
Dr. Micah Weinberg is currently President of the Bay Area Council Economic Institute where he manages a team of professional researchers who produce world class economic and policy analysis and insight. Since 2001, he has also been the CEO of Healthy Systems Project a firm that delivers policy and market intelligence and strategic guidance in the areas of healthcare and economic development to a range of corporate, association, public, and nonprofit clients.
